An Escaped Detainee Nabbed After Border Attack. The Tongan man who fled custody and assaulted two officials on Thursday.
Paea Teu, a Tongan national, is accused of violently attacking correctional officers on a bus as he was taken from Villawood Detention Centre to Sydney Airport. The man is believed to have fled the scene after the incident on Thursday morning. Authorities launched a search to find him.

People reported seeing the individual on Eschol Park Drive, Eschol Park, to the police at 9.40 pm on Wednesday. Officers took Teu into custody near Ballantrae Drive in St Andrews only a short time later. A woman, 24, was captured nearby after officers responded to a call.
Police took both the man and the woman to Campbelltown police station. Teu was charged with both “unlawful wounding with intent to kill” and “wounding a person with intent to cause great bodily harm.”
He was denied bail and will be brought before the Parramatta Local Court this afternoon. Police have slapped the young woman with a charge of hiding an escaped inmate. The woman was given bail and will next appear in Campbelltown Local Court on May 22. They were taken to Westmead Hospital after being injured.
