My mother dedicated her entire life to supporting and helping people with mental health problems. Mom taught me what true strength, freedom, and determination are all about. My mother taught me to be brave and ambitious from an early age so that one day I could become the country’s first female leader of the opposition. She said her mother influenced her in everything she did.
Ley revealed on the day she became the new Liberal opposition leader that her mother had entered her final days.
I felt truly blessed to be together with my mum this Mother’s Day.
On Monday night,t our parish priest got everyone to wait so that Angela could be with her daughter for a special occasion. He told her he would celebrate with her the following day if she held out to share in the moment.
As I left my home in Canberra on Tuesday to drive back to my mum’s place, I couldn’t have felt prouder or more honoured to have been entrusted with our party’s leadership.
Mum may not have been able totalkak but she paid close attention to everything that happened during my press conference. When I entered the room again that same day, I noticed excitement in Mum’s eyes. That moment will stay with me forever.
Ley reached out to everyone who had expressed support during this difficult time and expressed special appreciation to the people at Riverwood Aged Care.
